Frequently Asked Questions
Choosing a different school path is a big decision. We believe in high expectations, strong support, and being fully transparent about how we operate. The questions below explain how The Village Experience works — from academics to daily structure to funding — so students and families can make an informed decision.
Who is eligible for The Village Experience?
The Village Experience serves high school–aged students who are behind in credits, struggling academically, disengaged from traditional school environments, or seeking a structured GED pathway with strong support.
We are designed specifically for students who need a different approach — not less structure, but the right structure.
Do students have to leave their current high school?
Students pursuing the GED pathway will need to formally withdraw from their current high school in accordance with Louisiana state guidelines.
We partner with local school districts for referrals and collaborate when appropriate, but we also accept community referrals from families, educators, mentors, and trusted community leaders.
How do students apply?
Students or parents complete the online interest form.

After submission, families will:
-
Attend an intake meeting
-
Participate in a diagnostic academic assessment
-
Complete a student interview
This helps us build a personalized success plan from day one.
How many students do you serve?
We serve up to 75 students at a time.
Cohort sizes are intentionally structured to ensure personalized academic support, mentorship, and accountability.
If capacity is reached, students may be placed on a waitlist.
Is The Village Experience an accredited high school?
No. The Village Experience is not a traditional high school.
Students work toward earning their GED credential, a nationally recognized high school equivalency diploma.
How long does the program take?
